Pfaff’s growing popularity has drawn attention from producers of a reality TV show with whom he is currently in the process of signing a contract, therefore cannot reveal too many details. There are numerous You Tube videos posted of Pfaff engaging in such generous acts of kindness, including one where a female client, seeing her tattoo for the first time, cried tears of joy when she saw how well it hid her grotesque scars. He takes these cards and hands them out to homeless people and alcoholics on city streets. To show their appreciation, many people whose lives were touched by Pfaff have given him presents such as coffee shop gift cards. After losing his apartment and car, experiencing a bad relationship, losing a close friend to cancer, and being hospitalized, Pfaff managed to get his life on track and opened his shop with the help of some friends who found him a space to rent, and donated paint, supplies and furniture. He had applied more than 200 tattoos on friends but had trouble finding work. Growing up in Billerica, Pfaff said he always wanted to be a tattoo artist but it wasn’t until he was in his 30s that he purchased $3,000 in tattoo supplies and started to teach himself the craft – beginning with fruit and working up to tattooing friends in his garage. After turning his life around, Pfaff put pen to paper and began writing his life story entitled The Man in the Mirror, which tells how he went from near death to living his dream.
